Jane Madison Mabry

Jane Madison Mabry, 73, of 223 East Queen Street, died Monday, January 20, 2025, in her home.

Jane was born in Rowan County (Salisbury), NC on November 5, 1951, and was the daughter of the late Madison and Eloise Garrison Mabry. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Seth Craig Mabry Williams on October 13, 2024.

Jane lived most of her childhood in Belmont, NC, where she graduated from South Point High School in 1969.

A former teacher with Chowan Middle School, she had received her master’s in library science and special education from East Carolina University. After moving to Edenton, she and her family had worshipped at Edenton Baptist Church and St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.

Jane strived to make a positive impact on those who she taught and collaborated with, and she put her heart into teaching her students as well as Sunday school, recycling education, Celebrate Recovery, and other volunteer efforts. Jane continued to bring smiles to the faces of past students and coworkers as they happened to meet over the years.

Jane showed unconditional love to her husband, sons, and grandsons, and was always making someone’s day a little brighter with her many cards and letters. She had a way with words that were kind and uplifting. Jane was happiest when spending time with her family and trusted friends.

A spiritual person, Jane was firm in her faith. Scripture was her guide to life, and this showed in her giving to those less fortunate and to the animals of this world. She always kept the 23rd Psalm in mind, “The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want….”

Surviving is her husband of over 52 years, John Michael “Mike” Williams; their sons, Madison Willimas of Edenton and US Army Master Sergeant Joel Williams, stationed at Fort Liberty in Fayetteville; her twin grandsons, Marik and Braxton Williams; and many friends and extended family members.

In accordance with her wishes, services will be private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to AWARD (Animal Welfare of the Albemarle Region Everyday), P.O. Box 203, Hertford, NC 27944, or to a charity of your choice.
