James Thomas "Butch" Yarborough, Jr., 74, of 104 Powhatan Trail, Edenton, NC, died Sunday, January 13, 2019, in his home.
Mr. Yarborough was born in Charlotte on August 22, 1944, and was the son of the late James Thomas, Sr. and Desiree Vinsen Yarborough. A retired long-distance truck driver, he had also been employed in the tour bus industry. An avid NASCAR fan, he loved racing and in earlier years had been involved with both Drag and Dirt Track racing. A Marine Corps veteran, he was a member of the Edward G. Bond Post 40 of the American Legion.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Violet Matney.
Surviving are his wife of 19 years, Doris Hall Yarborough; four daughters, Cheryl Renee Yarborough, Denise Jane Yarborough Brune, Cyrstal Lynn Yarborough, and Tabitha Michelle Yarborough; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Friday, January 25, at 2:00 p.m. in the Edward G. Bond Post 40 of the American Legion, 1317 West Queen Street, Edenton, and will be conducted by James Brabble.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army, Development Dept., 700 North Bell Ave., PO Box 742, Pittsburgh, PA 15106.
