James Robert Williams

 James Robert “Bobby” Williams, 79, of 3010 Rocky Hock Road, passed away Monday, March 3, 2025, in ECU Health Medical Center, Greenville.

 Mr. Williams was born in Chowan County on May 31, 1945, and was the son of the late Raymond Octavius Williams and Gladys Marie Phelps Williams Outlaw. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lorinda Joyce Clements Williams; his son, Samuel Wayne “Sammy” Williams; sisters, Shirley Lee Colombo and Jerrie Chasen, and by a brother, Raymond Williams.

 Retired as a supervisor from United Piece Dye Works following over 30 years of employment, he later worked and retired from the Town of Edenton. A former member of the Edward G. Bond Post #40 of The American Legion, his other enjoyments included fishing and metal detecting. He was an Air Force veteran having served during the Vietnam War.

 Surviving are his three sons, Jimmy Williams (Linnie) of China Grove, Anthony Williams (Shannon) of Sanford, and Ryan Williams (Tara) of Edenton; a step-sister, Barbara Cruz of Edenton; seven grandchildren, Austin, Charli Grace, Noah, Landon, Katelyn, Mason, and Byron; his canine companion, “Little Bit”; and other extended members of both the Phelps and Williams families.

 A memorial service will be held Friday at 6:00 p.m. in the chapel of Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, and will be conducted by his son, Jimmy Williams. Friends may visit with the family in the funeral home immediately following the service on Friday and all other times at the residence.
