James Howard Pauley, Jr.

   James Howard “Bubba” Pauley, Jr., 53, of Sunbury, NC, died Friday, September 20, 2019.

   Born in Richmond, VA on August 21, 1966, he was the son of Dr. James Howard Pauley of Portsmouth, VA and Carol Donnelly Pauley of Virginia Beach, VA. A Measurement and Regulation Technician, he had been employed for many years with both Columbia Natural Gas in Virginia and Piedmont Natural Gas in North Carolina. An avid outdoorsman, he was a member of Eureka Baptist Church and a volunteer with both the Sunbury Vol. Fire Department and Gates County Rescue & EMS.

   In addition to his parents, surviving are his two daughters, Ashlyn Taylor Pauley and Chelsi Rae Pauley; a granddaughter, Daioni Christine Williamson; the mother of his children, Christie H. Pauley, all of Sunbury; two sisters, Donna Pauley of Glen Burnie, MD and Debbie Keel of Virginia Beach; his paternal grandmother, Marjorie Pauley of Portsmouth; his step-mother, Patty Pauley of Portsmouth, and many nieces and nephews.

   A memorial service will be held Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at 11:00 at Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, and will be conducted by Pastor Tom Hall. Friends may join the family in the funeral home immediately following the service.
