James Curtis "Chief" Oiler

   James Curtis “Chief” Oiler, US Navy Ret., 85, of 116 Comanche Trail, Edenton, NC, died Thursday, May 30, 2019, in his home.

   Mr. Oiler was born in Langsville, OH on February 19, 1934, and was the son of the late Grada and Madge Hampton Oiler. A veteran of the Vietnam War, he served for 22 years in the United States Navy and retired as a Senior Chief Petty Officer.

   In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Delma June Salisbury Oiler; and his brothers, Carl and Larry Jay Oiler.

   Surviving are two daughters, Tina Marie Fielder and husband, Robert, and Linda Kay Arnold and husband, Troy; three sons, Steven C. Oiler and wife, Laura, David W. Oiler and wife, Teresa, and Michael L. Oiler and wife, Jessica; a sister, Doris Jacks; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

   A memorial service with military honors will be held at the Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk, VA, where he will be inurned with his wife.
