James Paul Lantz

   James Paul Lantz, 83, of 191 Indiantown Road, Shawboro, NC, passed away Wednesday, March 20, 2024 in Currituck House.

   Mr. Lantz was born in Clay, WV on September 16, 1940, and was the son of the late James Sattler and Kathryn Lucy Lantz. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Kight Lantz, his stepfather who helped raise him, Stanley Gray, a sister, Jackie Lantz, and brothers, Bobby, Johnny, William, Paul, and Silas Sattler.

   Retired as a long-distance truck driver following over 40 years on the road, earlier he had been employed with Norfolk-Southern Railroad. He attended Providence Baptist Church and was an Army veteran.

   Surviving is his son, James Lantz (wife, Tanya) of Shawboro; two sisters, Karen Sue Gray and JoAnn Fleming; a brother, Jeffrey Sattler, all of West Virginia; five grandchildren, Haley Brackett, Clay Lantz (wife, Jessica), Alex Fiorillo (husband, Nick), Kimmie Culler (husband, Quincy), and Mia Justice (husband, Trevor); four great-grandchildren, Ben Fiorillo, Addi Lantz, Jackson Justice, and Gracie Culler; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

   A graveside memorial service will be held Wednesday, March 27, at 1:00 p.m. in the Gregory Family Cemetery, Indiantown Road, Shawboro, and will be conducted by the Rev. Charles Stevens.
