James Lee Haskett

   James Lee “Jim” Haskett, 88, of Edenton, NC, passed away on Saturday, February 2, 2019.

   Mr. Haskett was born in Portsmouth, VA on September 15, 1930, and was the son of the late James B. and Ruth Stokes Haskett. A retired engineer technician with Norfolk Naval Base, he had served in the Army during the Korean War, was a member of American Legion Post 40, VFW Post 6060, Bandon Chapel, and had served as a Boy Scout Leader for many years where he received the Silver Beaver Award.

   In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Jeannine Forehand Haskett.

   Surviving are two sons, Michael James Haskett and wife, Mary Ann, of Suffolk, and Robert Lee Haskett and wife, Susan, of Virginia Beach; two daughters, Ruth Ann Harrel and husband, Steve, of Suffolk, and Nini Baker and husband, Rand, of Norfolk; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

   In accordance with his wife’s wishes before her death in December of 2013, she had requested that after Jim joined her in death, a joint memorial service be held honoring the memory of both their lives. The family has planned that service for Saturday, February 16th, at 11:00 a.m. at the graveside in the South Mills Cemetery. The Rev. Mark O’Neal, pastor of Trinity United Methodist Church, will officiate the service.
