James Russell Hartwell, Jr.

   James Russell “Rusty” Hartwell, Jr., 57, of 133 Oliver Street, Hertford, NC, passed away Friday, March 29, 2024 in his home where he was being cared for by family.

   Rusty was born in Virginia Beach, VA on September 14, 1966 and was the son of the late James Russell, Sr. and Shirley Mae Fritz Hartwell. Among his many enjoyments in life, he loved listening to country music, eating, drinking Pepsi, the outdoors, and especially sitting on the front porch.

   Surviving is his sister, Lena Mae Hartwell Cohen (Carl) of Hertford; a niece, Bobbi Persinger (Matt); and a nephew, Christopher Steven Cohen.

   A private service will be held.
