James Carlton Harrell

   James Carlton Harrell, 50, of 1336 NC 137, Eure, NC, died Saturday, September 21, 2019 in Sentara Obici Hospital, Suffolk, VA.

   Mr. Harrell was born in Hertford County on October 30, 1968, and was the son of Inda Marie Powell Harrell of Eure and the late James Melvin “Jimmy” Harrell. Employed as an automobile mechanic for many years, he was a member and deacon of Cool Spring Baptist Church and had been active in its Brotherhood. He was an Army veteran.

   In addition to his mother, surviving are his wife of 28 years, Phyllis Ann Winslow Harrell; a daughter, Diana Nicole Harrell; a son, James Douglas Harrell and wife, Madalynn; a grandson, James Wallace Harrell, all of Eure; a sister, Cynthia Ann Harrell Jeffers of Goldsboro; a niece, Christy Bumgardener and husband, Kyle; and two great-nephews, Avery and Levi, all of Willow Spring.

   Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. in Cool Spring Baptist Church, and will be conducted by his pastor, the Rev. Joe McKnight. A private burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may join the family in the church social hall immediately following the service, and all other times at his mother’s home, 119 Tinkham Road, Eure.
