James Henry Doughty

   James Henry Doughty, 83, of 115 Tip Toe Road, Edenton, NC, passed away Sunday, August 20, 2023 in his home where he was being cared for by family.

   Mr. Doughty was born in Dutchess County, NY on November 28, 1939, and was the son of the late Roy Germond Doughty and Helena Mildred Terry Doughty. The retired owner and operator of Doughty Plumbing and Heating, he was an avid golfer and enjoyed membership in Occano Golf Club in Merry Hill, and while living in New York had enjoyed membership in both the Whortlekill Rod and Gun Club in Unionville, NY and the Hudson Valley Builders Association.

   Surviving is his wife of 42 years, Cynthia Louise Tompkins Doughty; five sons, Wayne Doughty (Lori) of Phoenix, AZ, Craig Doughty (Denise) of Port Ewan, NY, Glenn Doughty (Laura) of Lagrangeville, NY, Michael Tillou (Teresa) of Poughkeepsie, NY, and David Tillou (Jennifer) of Fairport, NY; a sister, Joyce Adase of Dunedin, FL; a brother, Karl Doughty (Jean) of Titusville, FL; five grandchildren, Chase Doughty (Michelle), Deanna Alexy (Michael), Ethan Doughty, Sarah Doughty, and Sidney Tillou; two great-granddaughters; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

   A memorial service will be held at a later date in New York.
