James Stuart Cummings

   James Stuart “Pokey” Cummings, 72, of Ahoskie, NC, passed away Friday, April 26, 2024 in ECU Health Roanoke-Chowan Hospital, Ahoskie.

   Mr. Cummings was born in Hertford County on July 9, 1951, and was the son of the late Raymond Byrdett and Mae Lawrence Cummings. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Laura Wall, and by a brother, Robert Cummings. A jack-of-all-trades, he had been employed in carpentry, roofing, landscaping, and auto mechanics.

   Surviving are his siblings, a sister, Patricia Matthews (husband, Jimmy) of Ahoskie; and two brothers, Vernon Cummings of Ahoskie and Paul Cummings (wife, Cindy) of Aulander.

   At his request, no services will be held.
