James Thomas Byrum, Sr.

   James Thomas “T-Bone” Byrum, Sr., 83, of 1106 Ryland Road, Tyner, NC, died Saturday, October 21, 2023 in his home where he was cared for by his family.

   Mr. Byrum was born in Chowan County on May 9, 1940 and was the son of the late Gilbert and Mildred Elizabeth Jones Byrum. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death in January of this year by his wife, Susie Twine Byrum; and by his sister, Margaret Chinsolo.

   “T-Bone” was the retired owner and operator of his long distance trucking company.

   Surviving are his children, Wendy Byrum, James Byrum, Jr., and Ann Paige Barclay; by Susie’s children, Valerie Pate (husband, Ricky), Amy Brynteson (husband, Mike), and Stephen Copeland (wife, Christy); and their families; and by his brother, Billy Byrum of Edenton.

   In accordance with his wishes, no service will be held, and he and Susie will simply be laid to rest together on the family plot at Warwick Baptist Church.
