Jacquelyn Bunch White, 87, of Elizabeth City, passed away Monday, November 6, 2023 at Elizabeth City Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Jackie was born in Edenton, NC on November 25, 1935. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Eunice Harrell Bunch, her brother Arlyn Bunch, and her longtime friend and companion, Anne Stafford.
She will be lovingly remembered by her sister, Loretta Evans (Frank), her sister-in-law, Susan Bunch, her nephew, Jeffrey Evans (Laura) of Willard, and her nieces, Melanie Gockel (David) of Youngsville, Melissa Conrad (Phillip) of Salisbury, and Jennifer Grabe (James) of Hillsborough. She also leaves behind ten cherished great nieces and nephews, two great, great nephews and many other special family members and friends too numerous to count. Jackie grew up in the fellowship of Rocky Hock Baptist Church in Chowan County, NC. She graduated from Chowan High School and then attended Wake Forest University. Jackie retired from CIGNA Insurance in Hartford, CT as Assistant Director of Customer Service. She enjoyed her work with CIGNA and was able to travel the United States with her job.
Jackie lived a full life filled with lots of love, adventure, laughter and service to others. She was a friend to all she met. She enjoyed traveling, reading, spending time with friends and family and spoiling them with her wonderful cooking. She was always organized, prepared and ready to help anyone in need. Traveling was her passion, and throughout her life she had taken many cruises and traveled extensively overseas seeing the world with friends and family.
A memorial service to celebrate Jackie’s life will be held Friday, November 10th at 2:00 pm in the Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Chapel, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford, and will be conducted by her cousin, The Rev. Dean Harrell, with a eulogy provided by her friend and traveling companion, Laura Del Grosso of Florida. The burial in Beaver Hill Cemetery will immediately precede the service. Friends are invited to visit with the family at the funeral home following the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Jackie’s name to the charity of your choice. Jackie has been supportive of Shriners Hospitals for Children and the Wounded Warrior Project.
