Jack Pardue

The Quintessential American Artist

   Jack Pardue, of Hertford, NC, passed away Friday, August 18, 2023.

   Jack is known as one of this country’s leading artists. His paintings, ranging from commissioned portraits to landscapes, and everything in between, radiate light and make creative, inventive, and surprising use of color. Jack spent his earliest days as a student, getting called to the principal's office for drawing portraits of classmates. His early passion graduated into advanced skills in drawing as a teenager and eventually took him to formal studies.

   A graduate of the Ringling School of Art and Design, a signature member of the Pastel Society of America, Jack has been advocating, teaching, and displaying art for decades. Jack has received numerous awards for his work, and his originals are featured in private and corporate collections. His paintings hang in numerous art galleries and many of the most iconic buildings in America, including the White House, Smithsonian Museum, Strategic Air Command Museum and National Museum of American History, and many others.

   His work has been beloved and purchased by Presidents, businesses, and individuals all across this country. For 35 years, Jack has brought his vast experience in painting, drawing, and composition to explore Plein Air painting, which you'll see on this webpage. He’s adept at working with changing light. The pressure of capturing the essence of a landscape with constantly changing conditions helps Jack bring decades of skill into every painting.

   Over the years, Jack has become known not only as a skilled painter but a passionate and skilled teacher as well. Jack’s passion and skill have inspired generations of artists, and his work continues to do so today and into the future.
