Irvin Taylor

   Irvin Taylor, 103, of Chesapeake, VA, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 10, 2020.

   A native of Gates County, NC, he was born on May 17, 1917 to the late Linwood and Tellie Speight Taylor.  A graduate of Gates High School, Mr. Taylor retired from farming and also later from the Norfolk and Western Railroad.  He was a member and Deacon Emeritus of Rosemont Christian Church.

   In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wives, Kathleen G. Taylor, Edna A. Taylor, and Blanche W. Taylor, and by four brothers: Leslie Taylor and wife, Wessie, Dalton Taylor and wife, Helen, Melvin Taylor and wife, Marty, and Earl Taylor. 

   Surviving are his two daughters, Mildred Taylor-McGuire and husband, John, and Marie Brantley and husband, Larry; his son, Winston I. Taylor and wife, Anita; a brother, J. Frank Taylor and wife, Mary Lee, a sister-in-law, Ann Taylor; a stepson, Ronald Williams and wife, Lorraine; 11 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren.

   A graveside funeral service will be held Saturday, November 21, at 11:00 a.m. in the Taylor Family Cemetery, 188 Black Mingle Road, Gates, NC, and will be conducted by Pastor Mark Gorgans.

   In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Rosemont Christian Church, 3505 Bainbridge Blvd., Chesapeake, VA 23324.
