Howard Mark Bennett

  Howard Mark “Howie” Bennett, 67, of Hertford, NC, passed away Friday, July 12, 2024 in Sentara Albemarle Medical Center, Elizabeth City.

 Mr. Bennett was born in Monmouth County, NJ on June 1, 1957, and was the son of Ruth Elizabeth Whalen Bennett of Freehold, NJ. 

 Ordained in Christian ministry since 1984, Howie served as a church planter, senior pastor, and in recent years in short-term works of restoration and reconciliation with several churches. The aim of his ministry always remained the same wherever the Lord sent Howie and his wife, “that all those under my care as God’s under shepherd will remain awake, watchful and strengthened, ready and prepared for our Lord’s return so that each will hear Him say, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant.’”

 Surviving is his wife, Karen Bennett; two daughters, Jenna and Malea Bennett; a son, Ryan Bennett; a stepdaughter, Jocelyn Thompson; two sisters, Brenda Spedaliere and Sharon Teuscher; and five grandchildren, Xavier, Xayden, Gabriella, Mariana, and Alexander.

 A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 27, at 1:00 p.m. in Calvary Assembly of God, 120 Mechanic Street, Hightstown, NJ.

 Another service to celebrate his life will be held Saturday, August 3, at 4:00 p.m. in Chapel on the Sound, 112 Leisure Road, Hertford.
