Hilda Warren Hughes

   Hilda Mae Warren Hughes, 90, of Merry Hill, NC, passed away Thursday, December 10, 2020 in Vidant Chowan Hospital, Edenton.

   Mrs. Hughes was born in Pitt County on February 15, 1930, and was the daughter of the late James Henry Warren and Hilda Geneva Bullock Warren. A homemaker, she was an active member of Capehart’s Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Manley Hartwell Hughes; and by nine brothers, George Ben, James, Clayton, Dennis, Floyd, Dixie, Billy, Tony, and Frank.

   Surviving are her daughter, Linda Keeter and husband, Jimmie, of Edenton; a son, Ray Hughes and wife, Thelma, of Windsor; a sister, Patsy Bryant of Askewville; a brother, Jack Warren of Chesapeake, VA; three granddaughters, Terri Anne Dunn (Chris), Penny Ratzlaff and April Benton (Karl); three great-grandchildren, Holden Ratzlaff (Brittaney), Riley Ratzlaff, and Jewel Benton; two great-great-grandsons, Cole and Nolan Ratzlaff; and many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

   Graveside funeral services will be held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in Capehart’s Baptist Church Cemetery, Merry Hill, and will be conducted by Pastor Stanley Hare. Friends may visit with the family at the gravesite immediately following the service. Those attending should follow CDC guidelines concerning masks and distancing measures.
