Herbert Floyd Greene, Jr., 70, of 487 Winslow Road, Hertford, NC, passed away Wednesday, February 12, 2020, in his home where he was surrounded by his family.
Mr. Greene was born in Roaring Spring, PA on February 25, 1949, and was the son of the late Herbert Floyd, Sr. and Mary Frances Wright Greene. A graduate of Penn State University, he retired as the Chief Executive Officer of Denton Vacuum, Inc. in Moorestown, NJ. As a Certified Public Accountant, he had also previously served as the Chief Financial Officer of Durand Glass Company in Vineland, NJ. In retirement, he enjoyed substitute teaching at Moorestown High School. A member of New Hope United Methodist Church, he was also active with the Friends of Perquimans Library.
Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Meredith Macan Greene; a daughter, Kristi Slater (Terry) of Redding, CT; two sons, Herbert F. "Bret" Greene, III (Heather) of Durham and Jeffrey William Greene of Richmond, VA; two sisters, Cecelia Sanford of Norfolk, VA and Sarah Sneeden of Brevard; eight grandchildren, Trip, Logan, Sarah, Brooks, Hunter, Evelyn, Olivia, and Jackson; and many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in New Hope United Methodist Church, and will be conducted by his pastor, the Rev. Carroll Bundy. Friends may join the family for a time of visitation in the church social hall immediately following the service. A graveside service will be held Monday at 9:00 a.m. in Alto Reste Park Cemetery, Altoona, PA.
