Harvey Anderson Johnson

   Harvey Anderson Johnson, 92, of Edenton, NC, passed away on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at Edenton House Assisted Living where he was surrounded by family and comforted by his loving wife.

   A native of Elizabeth City, NC, Harvey was born on August 5, 1932 to Jennings Bryan Johnson and Sybil Layden Johnson and was the husband of Lucy Rae Phelps Johnson. Harvey was a retired farmer, a veteran of the U.S. Army Special Forces, and a long-time Mason with Eureka Lodge No. 317 in Elizabeth City, NC.

   In addition to his wife of 60 years, he is survived by his five children and twelve grandchildren, Kenny Johnson and his wife, Becky and their children, Eric and Scott, Phil Johnson and his wife, Kathy and their children, Matthew, Michael, Nicholas and Jarod, Terri Martin and her husband, Dr. Rev. Jim Martin and their children, Kendra and Cara, Todd Johnson and his wife, Renee and their children, Justin and Taylor, and Van Johnson and his wife, Anita and their children, Van, Jr. and Curtis; eighteen great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Frances Ownley; and brother, Larry Johnson and his wife, Hazel.

   In addition to his parents, Harvey was preceded in death by eight siblings, Lamar Johnson, C.B. Johnson, Kenneth Johnson, JoAnn Johnson, Phyllis Lockwood, Eddie Johnson, Bryan Johnson, and Evelyn Davenport.

   The family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 14, 2025 at the Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Home, Edenton, NC.

   Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 15, 2025 in the chapel of Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Home, Edenton, NC with Pastor Craig Phelps officiating.
