Harold Lloyd Pipes, 70, of 703 Creek Road, Elizabeth City, NC, died Thursday, February 25, 2021 in Sentara Albemarle Medical Center, Elizabeth City.
Mr. Pipes was born in Macon County, MO on October 23, 1950 and was the son of the late Earl Lee Pipes and Elizabeth Greenstreet "Betty" Pipes. Retired from civil service with Norfolk Naval Shipyard, he later was employed and retired as a Correctional Officer with the Albemarle District Jail. Among his many enjoyments in life included hunting, fishing, shooting his gun, and riding motorcycles in which he was a member of the Southern Cruisers Riding Club. In earlier years he also loved competing with Quarter horses and won many competitions including the Missouri State Championship several times.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 25 years, Charlotte Elliott Pipes, and two sisters, Janet Eiler and Lacietta Mulnix.
Surviving are his children, Cary Pipes (wife, Lori), Greg Pipes (wife, Carla), and Stacy Mitchell, all of Missouri, and Amanda White (husband, David) of Hertford; and a sister, Linda Bland of Missouri. Harold and Charlotte shared 16 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Friends may join the family for a time of fellowship and remembrance of his life on Thursday, March 4, from 3 to 7 p.m. at the residence.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice.
