Hallie Turner Lewis Spruill

   Hallie Turner Lewis Spruill, 90, formerly of Sunbury, NC and more recently of Trinity Oaks Health & Rehabilitation Center in Salisbury, died there on Saturday, August 29, 2020.

   Mrs. Spruill was born in Gates County on February 27, 1930, and was the daughter of the late Willie Edward Turner, Sr. and Ethel Wilkins Turner. Employed with the United States Postal Service for 37 years, she began as a postal clerk, and later served as Postmaster of both the Tyner and Sunbury offices. She was a member of Kittrell’s United Methodist Church in Gates.

   In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by both her husbands, Daniel C. Lewis and Earl Spruill; and by her brothers, Willie Edward Turner, Jr. and Douglas Ray Turner.

   Surviving are her daughter, Ellen Lewis Willard and husband, Charles, of Mocksville; two grandchildren, Jarrod Willard and wife, Namfon, of Mocksville, and Ashley Atherton and husband, Craig, of Indian Trail; and two great-grandchildren, Violet and Lincoln Atherton.

   A graveside service will be held Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. in the Gatesville Cemetery and will be conducted by the Rev. Carroll Bundy. Friends are invited to visit with the family in the cemetery following the service.
