Gladys Welch Motley

   Gladys Mae Welch Motley, 87, of 203 Ballahack Road, Hertford, NC, passed away Monday, December 23, 2019, in Edenton House.

   Mrs. Motley was born in Perquimans County on September 8, 1932, and was the daughter of the late Archie and Linnie Hudson Welch. A homemaker, she was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Winfall. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Motley; sisters, Louette Mims and Eardie Anderson; and by brothers, Lloyd, Archie, Gary, and Morris Welch.

   Surviving are her son, David Motley of Raleigh; two sisters, Ethel Spann of Camden, SC and Daisy Lee Holmes of Harlem, NY; a brother, Oliver Welch of Hertford; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

   A memorial service will be held at a later date. Miller & Van Essendelft, Funeral and Cremation Providers, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford, is assisting the family with arrangements.
