Gary Spruill

   Samuel Gary Spruill, 77, of Paradise Road, Edenton, NC, passed away on Sunday, April 14, 2019, in Vidant Chowan Hospital, Edenton.

   Mr. Spruill was born in Washington County on September 6, 1941, and was the son of the late Samuel Dewey and Malinda Furlough Spruill. A retired Tug Boat Captain, he was raised in the fellowship of Creswell Baptist Church, was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, and had served in both the US Army and Merchant Marines.

   In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Genny Bonaduce Spruill; a sister, Barbara Brown; his brother, Ray Spruill; and a granddaughter, Courtney Lee White.

   Surviving are two daughters, Kim Spruill White and husband, Bryant, of Edenton, and Kathy Spruill Sapp and husband, Jeff, of Southport, FL; his sister, Garland Rae of Roper; seven grandchildren, Chris Tripp (Felicia), Jeff Sapp (Meghan), Jacob Sapp, Justin Sapp, Joey Sapp, Scottie White, and Wade White; and four great-grandchildren, Garrett Sapp, LaShaun Tripp, LaShaya Tripp, and Bryson White.

   In accordance with his wishes, no services are planned. For those wishing to visit with the family, they are meeting at Kim and Bryant’s home, 1102-C, Greenhall Road, Edenton.
