  Gary William Farmer, Sr., 70, of 1650 Virginia Road, Edenton, NC, passed away on Wednesday, September 26, 2018, in his home.

   Mr. Farmer was born in Chowan County on October 24, 1947, and was the son of the late William Frederick and Kathleen Ward Farmer. The owner and operator of Farmer’s Auto Repair for 40 years, in earlier years he had worked with Bridge Turn Exxon, Chris-Craft Boats, and Fiber Form Boats. Memberships enjoyed included Macedonia Baptist Church and the Edward G. Bond Post 40 of the American Legion.  He had served in the NC National Guard.

   Surviving are his wife of nearly 45 years, Martha Miller “Marty” Farmer; two daughters, Anne Ward and husband, Al, and Brandi Richardson and husband, Brian; two sons, Gary Farmer, Jr. and wife, Dawn, and Greg Farmer and wife, Leah, all of Edenton; a cousin, Gail Buurma and husband, Ken, of Mobile, AL; a special aunt, Teny Ward of Edenton; and ten grandchildren, Clara and Joe Ward, Alyssa and Ashlee Richardson, William and Lily Farmer, Cody and Aaron Meads, and Ellie and Tyler Farmer.

   A memorial service will be held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in Macedonia Baptist Church, and will be conducted by the Revs. Jonathan Gentry, Bob Young, and Randy Green. A private burial will follow in the family cemetery. Friends may join the family Friday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, and all other times at the residence.

   In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
