Gail Hare Singh

   Gail Carolyn Hare Singh, 73, of 139 Mexico Road, Edenton, NC, passed away on Sunday morning, October 7, 2018, in her home where she was surrounded by her family.

   Gail was born in Pasquotank County on October 25, 1944, and was the daughter of the late Worth H., Sr. and Elsie Hassell Hare. A 1965 graduate of Warren Wilson College in Swannanoa, NC, with an Associates in Business Degree, she was a self-employed entrepreneur involved in various business ventures, her last being the co-owner and operator of Nothin` Fancy Café & Market in Edenton. Areas of service included work as a Peace Corps volunteer from 1965 to 1967, working with Aids Prevention and Family Planning in India in the 1990’s, and more recently her support of the Boys & Girls Club. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Sandra Hare Vail, and by her brother, Worth Hippensteel Hare, Jr.

   Surviving are three daughters, Caroline Singh Senn and husband, Michael, of Greenville, Sandra Singh Boles and husband, Spencer, of Clemmons, and Sarah Singh of New York, NY; three sisters, Iris H. Olmstead and husband, Allen, of New Bern, Sallie Beth Hare of Virginia Beach, VA, and Kim Goodwin and husband, Joseph, of Edenton; and three grandchildren, Hunter Bass, Elise Monsen, and Chloe Monsen. Also surviving are her father’s second wife, Sally Layton Hare, and her family, of Edenton.

   In accordance with her wishes, and in lieu of a traditional funeral service, a Celebration of Her Life was held at her home on Sunday.

   The family asks that flowers be omitted, and contributions in her memory be made to The Boys & Girls Clubs of The Albemarle/Edenton Unit, 131 Morristown Road, Edenton, NC 27932, or online at www.ecbgc.org.
