Frances Rebecca Ralph Tynch, 71, of 111 Tynch Town Road, Edenton, NC, died Tuesday, October 31, 2023 in ECU Health Medical Center, Greenville, where she was surrounded by her family.
Frances was born in Elizabeth City on August 6, 1952 and was one of eight children born to the late Charlie Shelton, Sr. and Juanita Ferrell Ralph. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Jo Ella Snow; and by her daughter-in-law, Jennifer Wemple Tynch.
A homemaker, for many years she had also worked as a substitute teacher in the Edenton-Chowan Public School System. A faithful member of Rocky Hock Baptist Church, she had served as its Vacation Bible School Director for over 30 years, had taught Sunday School for all ages, more recently the adult ladies of the Mary Long Class, on the Pastor Search Committee, on the building committee of the Family Life Center, and beyond the walls of Rocky Hock Church, on the Chowan Baptist Association VBS Board. Many will remember her through her work at the schools, and in the church, Frances always, always, loved children.
Surviving is her husband of nearly 53 years, Stanley L. Tynch, Sr., their sons, Stan Tynch, Jr. (wife, Patti) and Samuel L. Tynch (wife, Meredith), both of Edenton; five grandchildren, Kelsei, Jacob, Hunt, Fletcher, and Ellie Grace Tynch; four sisters, Mary Ralph and Phyllis Lamb (husband, Gary), both of Elizabeth City, Charlene Tynch (husband, Jimmy, deceased) of Edenton and Doris Rogerson (husband, Clarence, deceased) of Wilson; two brothers, Charlie S. “Buddy” Ralph, Jr. (wife, Vicky) and Carl Ralph (wife, Kim), both of Elizabeth City; and several nieces, nephews, and other extended members of both the Ralph and Tynch families.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 3:00 p.m. in Rocky Hock Baptist Church and will be conducted by the Rev. Matt Dupuy and the Rev. Danny Gurganus. The burial will follow in the Tynch Family Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, or all other times at the residence.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the Children’s Special Activity Fund of Rocky Hock Baptist Church, 113 Rocky Hock Church Road, Edenton, NC 27932.
