Frances Vaughan Matchell

   Frances Vaughan “Fran” Matchell, 74, of Paradise Road, Edenton, NC, died Wednesday, March 4, 2020, in Vidant Medical Center, Greenville.

   Mrs. Matchell was born in Bertie County on August 14, 1945, and was the daughter of the late Grady Lassie Vaughan and Selene Nowell “Big Mama” Vaughan. A homemaker, she was a member of Cape Colony Church of Christ.

   In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William I. “Chub” Matchell; and by a brother, Jimmy Vaughan.

   Surviving are her daughter, Charlotte Holt Mizelle (Vernon), and her son, J. Brent Holt, Jr. (Holly), all of Edenton; her sister, Sarah Ann Toney of Rutherfordton; her brother, Jeff Vaughan of Edenton; five grandchildren, Toni Lynn Corprew, Dustin Bunch, Daniel Mizelle, Aaron Knapp, and Katline Holt; and three great-grandchildren, Gavin Bunch, Baylee Mizelle, and Aubrey Corprew.

   Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, and will be conducted by Pastors Bernie Hurdle and Greg Brinson. The burial will be in Beaver Hill Cemetery. Friends may join the family Friday from 7 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home and all other times at Charlotte and Vernon’s home, 306 Seaview Drive, Edenton.
