Floyd Edward Benton

   Floyd Edward Benton, 95, of Hertford, NC, died Saturday, December 9, 2023 in Edenton Primetime Assisted Living.

   Mr. Benton was born in Perquimans County on October 1, 1928, and was the son of the late George Edward and Mary Elizabeth Keaton Benton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betsy Ward Benton, and the mother of his children, Gail Lane Benton.

   A retired press operator from Veneer Graphics in Eden, NC, he later worked with Reed Oil Company for over 10 years. He was a member of Ballard’s Bridge Baptist Church.

   Surviving are his two sons, Douglas F. Benton (Linda) of Chapin, SC and Gregory L. Benton (Anne) of Hertford; a sister, Barbara Ann White of Herford; three grandchildren, Melanie Hebert (Leo Charette), Trevor Benton (Ashley), and Allison Benton (Tommy Cantrell); seven great-grandchildren, Jackson, Molly, Ricky, Zach, Alicia, Paul, and Tommy Blake; and three great-great-grandchildren.

   A graveside service will be held Monday at 11:00 a.m. in Cedarwood Cemetery and will be conducted by the Rev. Ron Parr. Friends may visit with the family at the gravesite immediately following the service and other times at Greg and Anne’s home, 205 Hiland Park Avenue, Hertford.

   In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lions International.
