F. Earl White

   Francis Earl White, 87, of 930 Chambers Ferry Road, Edenton, NC, passed away on Saturday, January 26, 2019, in his home.

   Mr. White was born in Halifax County on December 17, 1931, and was the son of the late David George and Sarah Marie Spruill White. Retired as the General Foreman of Aircraft Repair at the US Coast Guard Air Station, Elizabeth City, he was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church, a Life Member of American Legion Post #40, and had served as the Finance Officer of the Chowan County Regional Fair for over 50 years.

   Mr. White had served in the United States Coast Guard, the Coast Guard Reserve, spent four years in the Navy during the Korean War serving in Fighter Squadron 174, Helicopter Squadron Two, and on the USS Franklin Roosevelt, the USS Palau, the USS Des Moines, and the USS Antietam, and retired from the US Naval Reserves with the rank of Chief Petty Officer after more than 30 years of total service.

   In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, David and Marvin White, and by a sister-in-law, Evelyn White.

   Surviving are his wife of over 62 years, Shelby Wright White; two daughters, Terry Hardison and husband, Bruce, and Carla Belch and husband, Tim; a sister-in-law, Mary G. White, all of Edenton; four grandchildren, Chad Hardison (Amber), Robin Mount (Stephen), Sarah Lee (Ryan), and Blake Belch; and six great-grandchildren, Addison and Annabeth Mount, Ainslee Grace and Haddon Hardison, and Emory and Reagan Lee.

   A memorial service will be held Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. in Macedonia Baptist Church and will be conducted by the Revs. Chris Gravning and Bob Young. A private inurnment will be in Beaver Hill Cemetery. Friends may join the family in the social hall of the church immediately following the service, and all other times at the residence.

   In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Macedonia Baptist Church, P.O. Box 18, Edenton, NC 27932.

   The family wishes to thank his caregivers, Pam Bunch, Jordan Pierce, Teresa Forward, Renee Overton, and Carla Webster; and the staff of Amedysis Hospice; for the care and comfort they gave to him during his period of declining health.
