Evelyn Sawyer Jones

   Evelyn Marie Sawyer Jones, 95, of 114 Cameron Drive, Apt. 104, Elizabeth City, NC, passed away Thursday, July 23, 2020 in her home.

   Mrs. Jones was born in Currituck County on July 24, 1924, and was the daughter of the late Thomas Stanley and Lucy Mae Hudson Sawyer. A retired customer associate with Wal-Mart in Elizabeth City, she was a member of Fountain of Life Church.

   In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin Franklin Jones, Jr.; two sons, Wayne and Mike Jones; a son-in-law, James Tisdale; a daughter-in-law, Susan Jones; a sister, Ruth Braddy; and by brothers, Marvin, Calvin, and Bobby Sawyer.

   Surviving are her daughter, Wanda Tisdale of Elizabeth City; three sons, Glen Jones of Elizabeth City, Ray Jones of Gadsden, AL, and Alan Jones and wife, Gayle, of Paynesville, OH; a daughter-in-law, LaDonna Jones of Gadsden; two sisters, Brenda Wissman and Judy Munden, both of Elizabeth City; 13 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.

   A private service will be held in West Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may join the family at the residence.
