Eugene Harley "Buddy" Batton

   Eugene Harley “Buddy” Batton, 83, a longtime resident of Boiling Springs, NC, passed away on Wednesday, May 6, 2020.

   Mr. Batton was born on May 19, 1936 in Chowan County and was raised in Edenton by his parents, the late Harley and Ila Poole Batton. A retired brick mason, he loved the ocean and spent most of his life on the coast of North Carolina. A kind man, he will be missed by his family and his many friends.

   In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Melinda Batton, and by his sister, Katherine Batton.

   Surviving are his brothers, Clifford Batton and Donald Batton (Janet); his longtime partner, Logene Godwin; three children, Laura Batton VanEnwyck (Dane), Chris Batton (Terri), and Lynne Batton Clevinger; five grandchildren, Adam VanEnwyck (Kristin), Megan Davidson (Josh), Dever Clevinger, Catherine Batton, and Abigail Cuthbert; and five great-grandchildren.

   A graveside memorial service will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. on the family plot in Beaver Hill Cemetery in Edenton, and will be conducted by the Rev. Steve Formo.
