Elliott Goodwin "Pete" Overman

 Elliott Goodwin “Pete” Overman, 90, of Hertford, NC, passed away Monday, December 16, 2024, in ECU Health Chowan Hospital, Edenton.

 Mr. Overman was born in Pasquotank County on March 29, 1934, and was the son of the late William Jackson Overman, Sr. and Eunice Goodwin Overman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, William Jackson Overman, Jr.

 Retired as insurance agent with Nationwide following 34 years of employment, he was a former member of both the Bethel Ruritan Club and Perquimans County Chapter of Ducks Unlimited. He was an Army veteran.

 Surviving is his wife of 61 years, Grace Morse Overman; two nephews, Graham Overman (wife, Georjan) of Hamilton, VA and Benjamin Overman of Elizabeth City; and many other extended family members and friends.

 A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Home, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford, and will be conducted by family friend, the Rev. Dave Adams. Friends may visit with the family in the funeral home immediately following the service on Saturday.

 In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
