Edwina Wright Lane

   Edwina Wright Lane, of Hertford, NC, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 13, 2022 in Vidant Chowan Hospital, Edenton, NC.

   A resident of Hertford, she was born December 31, 1946 and was the 3^rd of six daughters of the late Dr. W. Alan and Elizabeth Wright. Edwina, or “Neddie” as she was called, was raised in Montclair, NJ and was a 1964 graduate of Montclair College High School and a 1968 graduate of Immaculata University in Pennsylvania. She was presented on Jan. 1, 1965 at the New Year’s Day Ball Debutante Cotillion at The Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City.

   She was married to William A. Sablon, Sr. in 1975 and they had five sons. Their marriage ended in divorce, and later she married Larry Lane after moving to North Carolina in 1993.

   In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Edwin Blake Sablon, in 2020.

   Surviving along with her husband, Larry Lane, are her four sons, Andrew G. of Kodiak Island Alaska, Louis F., of Hertford, William A., of Greenville, NC, and Jean F. of Hertford; and seven grandchildren, Michael, Rachel, Sabrina, Preston, Lilliana, Ashlyn, and William III, all of North Carolina. Also surviving are her four sisters, Andree W. Bertsche and Roberta W. Verostick, both of Montclair, NJ, Kristina W. Viviano of Evesham, NJ and Stephenie W. Chatellier of Stuart, FL; and a host of loving nieces and nephews who she adored.

   A memorial is being planned and will be held at a later date.
