Edward Asa Harrell

 Edward Asa Harrell, 91, of 160 Byrum Road, died Thursday, February 13, 2025, in his home.

 Mr. Harrell was born in Gates County on May 8, 1933, and was the son of the late Louise Smith Harrell Howell. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his wife, Winifred Sessoms “Winky” Harrell, an infant son, Keith Tyrone Harrell, and a sister, Dorothy Jean Harrell.

 A retired Paper Inspector with Union Camp Corp. in Franklin, VA where he had been employed for 45 years, his other work that he dearly loved was farming. He was a member of Reynoldson Baptist Church where had served on its Board of Deacons. He was an Army veteran.

 Surviving are his two daughters, Jackie Ashley (Andy) and Kim Presley (Billy), both of Gates; a brother, Bob Harrell of Alabama; four grandchildren, Matthew and John Ashley, Brandon Eure (Tosha), and Joanna Bradley (Matt); nine great-grandchildren, Ciara, Harper, Easton, and Asa Ashley, Gavin and Skylar Eure, and Myah, Bryleigh and Ellie Bradley; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

 A memorial service will be held Monday at 11:00 a.m. in Reynoldson Baptist Church and will be conducted by the Revs. Cody Brinkley and Burt Pearce. Friends may visit with the family at the residence.
