Dorothy Jean Harrell, 83, formerly of Eure, NC, passed away on Thursday, August 15, 2019, at Central Harnett Hospital, Lillington, NC.
Mrs. Harrell was born in Gates County on August 20, 1935, and was the daughter of the late John Sheppard Harrell and Louise Smith Harrell. A lifelong resident of the area, she had moved two years ago to her daughter and son-in-law’s home in Buies Creek when her health began to fail. A homemaker and mother, she was a member of Cool Spring Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. “Bobby” Harrell, Sr.
Surviving are three daughters Bobbie Jean Wynns and husband, Joe, of Buies Creek, Deborah Ann Forehand and husband, Randy, of Suffolk, VA, and Bonnie Lou Snyder and husband, David, of Randleman; three sons, Robert L. Harrell, Jr. and wife, Judy, of Aydlett, Steven P. Harrell of Eure, and Mark D. Harrell of Randleman; two brothers, Edward Asa Harrell of Gates and Bob Harrell and wife, Peggy, of Alabama; a daughter-in-law, Pascale Harrell of Eure; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Friends may join the family Monday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Miller Funeral Home, 304 Main Street, Gatesville.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at Cool Spring Baptist Church and will be conducted by her pastor, the Reverend Joe McKnight, and by the Reverend Lynn Buzzard of Buies Creek. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Immediately following the service the family will receive friends at a reception in the church social hall being hosted by the church bereavement committee.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Cool Spring Church Cemetery Fund, in care of Merwin Bauerle, 460 US 13 South, Eure, NC 27935.
The family wishes to express their deep appreciation for all the acts of comfort and love shown to their mother during her time of illness, and those acts that are being showered upon them now in their time of bereavement.
