Dorothy Privott “Dot” Jackson, 92, of 142 Landfill Road, Roper, NC, died Monday, February 14, 2022 in Edenton Primetime Assisted Living.
Mrs. Jackson was born in Chowan County on January 9, 1930, and was the daughter of the late Lindsey William and Ruth Virginia Wiggins Privott. When Dot was a young child, her mother died and her father later married Mabel Whitehead. Though her step-mother, Dot always remembered her as her mother. In addition to her parents and step-mother, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Charles Edwards.
A homemaker, she was a member of Merry Hill Baptist Church for 56 years, and faithfully served her Lord working in the W.M.U., singing in the Adult Choir, and teaching a children’s Sunday School class.
Surviving is her husband of nearly 67 years, Talbert Jackson; two daughters, Teresa J. Thompson (husband, Ronnie) of Roper and Ruth Fulford (husband, Jay) of Bear Grass; two sons, Andy Lee Jackson (wife, Kathy) of Plymouth and James Ray Jackson of Fayetteville; a sister, Helen Rae McLaughlin of Bridgewater, VA; two brothers, Danny Privott of Hertford and David Privott of Plymouth; six grandchildren, Jennifer, Ashlee, Jason, Amber, Jamie, and Alex; and three great-grandchildren, Trenton, Julie, and Carter.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 19th, at 2:00 p.m. in Merry Hill Baptist Church and will be conducted by Dr. Bobby Gettys. A private burial will be on the family plot in Beaver Hill Cemetery in Edenton. Friends may visit with the family on the front lawn of the church immediately following the service, or all other times at the residence.
