Dorothy Lee Parker Coats

Dorothy Lee Parker Coats, 97, of Ahoskie, NC, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at the Ahoskie Health & Rehab Center.

A native of Gates County, NC, Dorothy was the wife of the late Rufus Albert Coats and the daughter of Monnie Will Parker and Lila Mae Casper Parker, both deceased.

In addition to her husband and parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her daughters, Nancy Long and her husband, Robert Long, and Janice Todhunter; grandson, Kenny Coats; sisters, Myrtle Pierce, Louise Harmon, and Frances Brabble; brothers, McCoy Parker and Monnie Parker; and sons-in-law, Nelson Crosby and William Davis.

Survivors include her daughters, Charlotte Davis, Patricia Cheek and husband, Robert, and Debbie Crosby; sons, Rufus Dexter Coats and wife, Carol, and Phillip Earl Coats; fourteen grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; and sister, Lillie Hollowell.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 16, 2025 in Mercy Church, 127 NC-42, Ahoskie, NC with Pastor Ray Faircloth, Sr. officiating. Interment will follow in the Ahoskie Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Wednesday prior to the service in the church.
