Dorothy Evelyn Brooks Baker, 94, of Ledrew Perry Road, Merry Hill, NC, died Saturday, September 18, 2021 in Three Rivers Health & Rehabilitation, Windsor.
Mrs. Baker was born in Jones County on April 7, 1927, and was the daughter of the late John Henry and Ludie Holland Brooks. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Calvin Baker; a son-in-law, Jack Revels; a sister, Sarah White (husband Oscar, deceased), three brothers, John Brooks, James Brooks (wife Bernice, deceased), Bob Brooks (wife Bernice, deceased); a sister-in-law, Ann Brooks; and a brother-in-law, Don Gahagon.
Formerly employed with Roses Department Store, she was a member of Capehart’s Baptist Church and the Quilting Cut-Ups.
Surviving are two daughters, Marie Revels of Edenton and Anita Edmondson (husband, Johnny) of Chocowinity; a son, Larry Baker of Raleigh; a sister, Eleanor Gahagon of Dayton, PA; two brothers, Tom Brooks (wife, Sylvia) of Windsor and Dennis Brooks of Merry Hill; four grandchildren, Woody Woodley (wife, Tammy), Michelle Woodley Russell (husband, Joey), Michael Woodley (wife, Sarah), and Jackie Beecham; four great-grandchildren, Brandon Woodley, Courtney Woodley, Zoe Beecham, and Odin Woodley; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. in the Capehart’s Baptist Church Cemetery and will be conducted by Pastor Stanley Hare. With the resurgence of the Covid-19 Virus, no formal visitation is planned; however, friends are invited to speak with the family immediately following the service.
