Doris Jean Peele Hill, 83, of 1751 Rocky Hock Landing Road, Edenton, NC passed away Tuesday, May 21, 2024, in Edenton Primetime Assisted Living.
Mrs. Hill was born in Chowan County on July 30, 1940, and was the daughter of the late Loyd Marcus and Doris Jean Bunch Peele. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold Charles Hill, Jr.
A graduate and valedictorian of Chowan High School Class of 1958, she later continued her education at the University of Mary Washington where she completed her bachelor’s degree in 1983. Employed with the Department of Defense for 30 years, she then transferred to the National Labor Relations Board where she retired as a Contracting Officer with a total of 41 years of federal service.
Surviving is her daughter, Tamera J. Hill Warden (husband, John) of Edenton; a son, David A. Hill (wife, Kimberly) of Stafford, VA; a brother, Carroll “Frog” Peele (wife, Judy) of Edenton; four grandchildren, Joshua Hill (wife, Lauren), Jaime Warden, Lloyd Brandon Hill (wife, Kasey), and Amber Hodges; and seven great-grandchildren, Isaiah Fry, Ellora Hill, Killian Hill, Raylan Hill, Waverly Hill, James Hodges, and Logan Hill.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, June 1, at 6:00 p.m. in Beaver Hill Cemetery and will be conducted by The Rev. Matthew Dupuy. Friends may visit with the family at the gravesite immediately following the service.
