Donna Toppin Crain

 Donna Lynn Toppin Crain, 68, of 617 Forest Hill Circle, Elizabeth City, NC, died Saturday, February 1, 2025, in Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.

 Mrs. Crain was born in Chowan County on March 4, 1956, and was the daughter of Doris Jean Tynch Toppin of Edenton and the late Guy L. Toppin. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her sister, Linda Jo Toppin Kight.

 The former co-owner and operator of Northeastern Garage Door Company, she had also worked as an agent with Taylor-Mueller Realty. She was a member of Corinth Baptist Church and had enjoyed working as a volunteer assisting students at Pasquotank Elementary School.

 With her mother, she is survived by her husband of 53 years, Gerald E. “Jerry” Crain, Sr. and their son, Gerald E. “Jerry” Crain, Jr., of Elizabeth City; and other members of the Toppin, Crain, and Tynch families.

 Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 6th, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Home and Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, and will be conducted by Edenton Baptist Pastor Koby Strauser and longtime family friend and former coworker, Pastor LaVern Hayden. The burial will follow in Beaver Hill Cemetery.

 Friends may visit with the family in the funeral home immediately following the chapel service, or all other times at her mother’s home, 202 Lynn Drive, Edenton.
