Dian Embury "Dee" Goss, of Hertford, NC, passed away on Sunday, February 23, 2020 in the Vidant Inpatient Hospice House in Greenville, where she was surrounded by her loving family following a long battle with mantle cell lymphoma.
Surviving are her devoted husband, David, of 54 years; her three children, Jennifer Spring and her husband Scott of Boston, MA, Benjamin Goss and wife Cindy from Vienna, VA, and Geoffrey Goss and wife Laurie of Charlotte; two sisters, Marcia Orland of Palm Desert, CA and Sue Sullivan of Oxford, FL; and eight grandchildren.
Dee was born on October 10, 1940 and grew up in Warsaw, NY, attended Bucknell University (where she met her husband David), and lived most of her adult life in Shaker Heights, OH (33 years) and Albemarle Plantation, Hertford (15 years). An elementary school teacher, she had taught for over 20 years in Long Beach CA, Pittsford, NY and Shaker Heights. She also received a Masters of Education degree from Cleveland State University.
She will be most remembered for her captivating smile and laugh, her life of spiritually-driven church and community service, her passion for golf, singing (3 different groups), being a Stephen Minister for over 30 years, writing/producing books for her grandchildren, and being a crafts person (primarily personalized dip'n drape dolls and photography).
A private Celebration of Life will be held.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Stephen Ministries or Music programs at Hertford United Methodist Church, 200 Dobbs Street, Hertford, NC 27944.
