David Hilirion Campbell

   David Hilirion “Dave” Campbell, 69, of Hertford, NC, passed away Sunday, June 2, 2024 in his home.

   Dave was born in Franklin, VA on January 9, 1955, and was the son of the late Stanley Allen Campbell and Mary Irene Poole Campbell. Retired as a Technical Engineer from Newport News Shipbuilding following 43 years of employment, he was dedicated to his work and was proud to be recognized as a Master Shipbuilder. Dave was a lover of golf, family, fishing, and the Washington Redksins.

   Surviving is his wife of 12 years, Sheryl Lott Campbell; his son, Jesse Campbell (wife, Ritvika); a step-son, Joel Biondi (wife, Shelby); a sister, Dottie Campbell Harcum; a brother, Joseph Campbell; and four grandchildren, Canaan, Vera, Gideon, and Thea.

   A gathering and time of visitation for family and friends will be held Saturday from 2 to 3 p.m. in Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Home, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford.

   In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959, an organization Dave donated to annually.
