Darrell Stollar Mechling

Darrell Stollar Mechling, 79, of Hertford, NC, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, in his home following a long illness.

Darrell was born on February 5, 1945, and grew up in St. Clairsville, OH. After graduating from Ohio State, he honorably served his country in the Vietnam War as a member of the US Army. Following his military service, Darrell attended the physical therapy program at the Medical College of Wisconsin. He worked as a Physical Therapist for 25 years.

Other enjoyments included his love of blues music and playing the bass guitar. Darrell also loved boating, fishing, and nature.

Surviving is his devoted wife of 30 years, Jennifer; his sister, Jane Melick of Boston, MA; and a host of extended family and friends.

The family wishes to express their deep appreciation to Amedisys Hospice for the wonderful care and loving support provided during their time of need. 

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
