Danny Ray Ashley

   Danny Ray Ashley, 70, of 850 Soundside Road, Edenton, NC, died Sunday, March 24, 2024, at his home.

   Mr. Ashley was born in Chowan County on June 24, 1953, and was the son of the late Everett and Louise Clark Ashley.

   Formerly employed with the North Carolina Department of Corrections at the Creswell Unit, he later was a driver for Charlie H. Bundy & Son Trucking and did seasonal driving for Tarheel Cotton Company. Raised in the fellowship of Macedonia Baptist Church, he had also worshipped at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Mr. Ashley was proud of his service to his country through the United States Air Force.

   Surviving is his wife of nearly 38 years, Patricia Ann Moorehead Ashley; two sons, Danny Ray Ashley II (wife, Jackie) and Kevin Anthony Ashley, both of Edenton; two sisters, Brenda Ashley Bond of Washington, NC and Jeanette Ashley Pippin of Amelia Island, FL; four grandchildren, Samantha, Logan, and Nathan Ashley and Michael Martin (wife, Willow); and two great-grandchildren, Maverick and Marianna Martin.

  Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 28th, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Home & Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton. The burial will follow in Beaver Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family in the funeral home the hour prior to services, or all other times at the residence.
