Daniel Gallop Gregory, Sr.

   Daniel Gallop Gregory, Sr., 82, of 141 Gibson Road, Hertford, NC died Monday, May 6, 2024.

   Mr. Gregory was born in Pasquotank County on June 7, 1941 and was the son of the late John Napoleon Gregory and Eva Mae Cartwright Gregory. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Martha “Sissy” Probst and infant sister, Hattie Pearl Gregory, and by brothers, John Douglas Gregory and Walter Roland Gregory. A longtime heavy equipment operator, he retired from the NC Department of Transportation following 22 years of employment.

   Surviving is his wife of 58 years, Sandra Copeland Gregory; a daughter, Danelle Gregory Ivey (husband, Wade) of Hertford; a son, Daniel G. Gregory, Jr. (wife, Dawn) of Elizabeth City; a sister, Gloria Cartwright of Hertford; five grandchildren, Alton G. Ivey, Samantha D. Ivey, Maitlyn G. Henne (husband, David), Madisyn R. Gregory, and Eli D. Gregory; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

   Funeral services will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Home, 1125 Harvey Point, Hertford, and will be conducted by Minister Ray Eure. Burial will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family Thursday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home, and other times at the residence.
