Dana Michelle Cherry, 40, of 714 Gaston Drive, Hertford, NC passed away Monday, October 14, 2024, in her home where she was being cared for by family and her dear friend, Anita Whitley.
Born in Tyrrell County on January 26, 1984, she was the daughter of Kenneth Edward and Terrie Cartwright Cherry of Columbia, adopted daughter of Martha Ann of South Mills, and biological daughter of Amanda Williams of Creswell. A homemaker, she dearly loved her family and especially enjoyed times spent with her children during their day-to-day activities and at any special events. She attended Yeopim Baptist Church.
Surviving in addition to her parents are her four children, Lane, Nathan, Cassie and Marisa McNutt, all of Hertford; two brothers, Kevin West of Plant City, FL and Tyler Williams of Creswell; a stepbrother, Jeremy James (wife, Kelly) of Creswell; her close friend, Nicky Winslow of Belvidere; and other extended family members and friends.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Home, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford, and will be conducted by Pastor Karl Head. The burial will be private in West Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Elizabeth City. Friends are invited to visit with the family on Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.in the funeral home and other times at the residence.
Memorial contributions may be made either to Yeopim Baptist Church, in care of Eula Jordan, 1201 Yeopim Road, Edenton, NC 27932 or to Gentiva Hospice, 1601 N. Road Street, Elizabeth City, NC 27909.
