Melvin Clifton “Cliff” Bright, 42, of 23 Hinton Road, Hobbsville, NC, died Sunday, May 22, 2022 from injuries received in a motor vehicular accident.
Cliff was born on January 13, 1980, and was a lifelong resident of Gates County. He was preceded in death by his father, Melvin Eddie Bright; by his maternal grandparents, Clyde Asa and Loretta Ward Stallings; and his paternal grandfather, Melvin Vance Bright.
The owner and operator of his trucking firm, CJZ Express, Cliff was a loving son, brother, husband and father who was happiest when he was with family and friends.
Surviving is his wife of 19 years, Jenny Scott Bright; their daughter, Zoie Ann Bright (age 6); his mother, Teresa Stallings Bright; and his brother, Rob Bright (wife, Kelly), all of Hobbsville; his sister, Wendy Bunch (husband, Jake) of Belvidere; his paternal grandmother, Mary Lee Miller Bright of Sunbury; and aunts, uncles, cousins, and other extended family. Also surviving is Jenny’s family, her parents, Patrice and John Scott, and her brother, J.F. Scott, all of Elizabeth City.
A gathering for friends to visit with the family will be held Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. in Miller Funeral Home, 304 Main Street, Gatesville.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Cliff’s memory may be to a college fund being established for his daughter Zoie, at the State Employees Credit Union, Gatesville Branch, in care of Erin Riddick, P.O. Box 4, Gatesville, NC 27938.
