Clara Lassiter Lewis

Clara Jean Lassiter “Dede” Lewis, 87, of 109 S. Oakum Street, Edenton, NC passed away Wednesday, May 22, 2024, in Edenton Primetime Assisted Living.
Born in Chowan County on March 27, 1937, Dede was the daughter of the late Irvin Spurgeon and Florence Carrie Harrell Lassiter. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Lloyd “Boogie” and Ted Lassiter, and by her friend and former husband, John Lewis, Jr.
Retired as an operator from Norfolk and Carolina Telephone Company, she was a member of Edenton Church of God.
Surviving is her daughter, Lisa Lassiter Anguiano and husband, Sergio, of Durham; two brothers, Fred Lassiter of Cary and Phillip Lassiter of Pikeville; a sister-in-law, Mary Lassiter of Durham; and two granddaughters, Leya and Amanda Anguiano.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. in Edenton Church of God and will be conducted by Pastor Frank Halsey. The burial will follow in Beaver Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family in the church the hour prior to the services on Sunday.
