Claire Hollowell Hare

 Claire Hunter Hollowell Hare, 85, of 203 Manteo Trail, died Friday, January 24, 2025, in her home.

 Mrs. Hare was born in Gates County on April 20, 1939, and was the daughter of the late Irvin Lee and Minnie Bunch Hollowell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas Hare; her daughter Rebecca Nixon Crandell; her sister, Vicki Hollowell Blackwell; and her brother, Lee Hollowell.

 A seamstress, she had worked at United Piece & Dye Works for 35 years. She was raised in the fellowship of Hobbsville Baptist Church and enjoyments included serving others through mission work, flowers, gardening, and arts and crafts.

 Surviving is her son, Sherman Gray Nixon of Edenton; three grandchildren, Casey Jennings, Chad Crandell, and Maria Ann Hershberger; and 14 great-grandchildren.

 In accordance with her wishes, services will be private.
