Christine Odom Cabral

   Christine Elizabeth Odom Cabral, 94, passed away Wednesday, October 9, 2019 in her son's home in Hertford, NC.

   Born in Suffolk, VA on March 15, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Ira and Martha Lucy Nelms Odom and the widow of the late Edmund Rego Cabral. A cheerful individual who seldom met a stranger, she always loved to engage in conversation. After retiring, she and her husband moved to Kill Devil Hills, NC where they enjoyed fishing and meeting many new friends. In 2014, she moved to Hertford to live with her son and his wife and to be nearer to family.

   In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her siblings, William Stanley Odom, Benjamin John Odom, Ernest Thomas Odom and wife, Florence, and Barbara Ann Odom Wright and husband, Frank.

   Surviving are her son, Edwin Rego Cabral and wife, Barbara of Hertford; two grandsons, Shawn Cabral and wife, Lisa, and Justin Cabral and wife Chessie; three great-grandchildren, Taylor, Davin, and Tyler, all of Corapeake; her sister, Joyce Odom Fulgham and husband, David; and a sister-in-law, Betty Kelly Odom, both of Suffolk.

   The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Terry, Chuck, Joyce and David, who all gave time, guidance, patience, and labors of love. A special thanks also to Diane, Kristen, and the private home caregivers, for the care and comfort given to Christine; to Albemarle Home Care and Hospice, whose nurses, Heather, Anita, and Amanda, had been a blessing with their expertise; and finally to her grandsons and their wives for their support and love.

   A graveside memorial service will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens, 4569 Shoulders Hill Road, Suffolk. Friends may join the family at Edwin and Barbara's home, 106 River Haven Drive, Hertford.

   In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to First Church of the Nazarene, 1085 Hwy 17 South, Elizabeth City, NC 27909.
